Prince Albert of Monaco at the Arctic Circle Forum in Rome

Albert of Monaco Arctic Circle ForumH. S. H. Prince Albert II of Monaco took part in the Arctic Circle Forum – Polar Dialogue, an important international event dedicated to the preservation of the Arctic, which took place in Rome on 3–4 March 2026.

“Research, science, diplomacy, security and education”: five words that effectively summarize the spirit and objectives of the Arctic Circle Forum – Polar Dialogue. The event represents one of the leading international platforms for discussion on Arctic-related issues, bringing together scientists, policymakers, institutions, international organizations and experts with the aim of promoting shared solutions to the environmental, climatic and geopolitical challenges affecting this strategic region.

The Rome edition follows those held in recent years in major international cities such as New Delhi, Berlin, Tokyo, Abu Dhabi and Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, confirming the Forum’s role as a privileged space for global dialogue on polar issues.

“We have long regretted that the Arctic was not more prominently featured on the international agenda,” the sovereign stated in his speech. “It must be acknowledged that the situation has changed considerably in recent months, although not always in the desired direction. The Arctic represents a crucial issue for humanity: its climate and its resources concern us all, and indigenous communities must be respected, listened to and fully involved in the decisions that affect the future of their territories.”

The Prince’s remarks also echoed the work of the Monaco Polar Symposium, held from 25 to 27 February under the aegis of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation. “The challenges facing the polar regions are systemic and accelerating, as we all know. Monaco is ready to contribute to this collective effort,” he had stated on that occasion, highlighting the strong thematic links between the Monegasque initiative and the Rome meeting.

From Monaco to Rome, a shared commitment therefore emerges to strengthen international cooperation and to promote responsible governance of the polar regions. In this context, the Princess Camilla of Bourbon Charitable Foundation, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies, firmly believes in the need to ensure that science, cooperation and multilateral dialogue constitute the essential foundations for a sustainable future for the polar regions.
