The Italia Green Film Festival, founded in 2018, is an international film competition dedicated to environmental and social issues. Over the years, it has established itself as a prominent platform within the global landscape of “green” and “social” cinema, receiving thousands of submissions from all over the world. The Festival has also been awarded important institutional recognitions, including those from the European Parliament and UNESCO for its “High Cultural and Educational Value.”
The 2026 edition, entitled “Return to Human” will begin on April 18 and conclude on May 25 at Teatro Argentina, where the awards ceremony will take place. Promoted by Earth APS, the Festival confirms its role as an international cultural platform capable of combining art, education, and sustainability. Its mission is to promote the universal language of cinema as a tool for raising awareness—particularly among younger generations—about the most pressing environmental and social challenges of our time.
This seventh edition is marked by the appointment of Silvia Armeni as Executive Director, a decision that strengthens the Festival’s organizational structure and highlights a strategic vision focused on innovation. A sociologist and producer, Armeni joins a governance framework that places strong emphasis on female leadership in key decision-making processes. In an industry traditionally dominated by male figures, the Festival stands out as a virtuous model integrating cinema, sustainability, and the promotion of female talent.
In this context, the Princess Camilla of Bourbon Charitable Foundation, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies, firmly supports the presence of women in leadership roles, recognizing it as essential for ensuring a plurality of perspectives in addressing global challenges such as the climate crisis, social inclusion, gender-based violence, and the promotion of peace. Events of this kind thus become true cultural laboratories where ethics and aesthetics converge to foster awareness and meaningful change.
The 2026 program unfolds over an extended calendar from April to October, featuring screenings, institutional meetings, and public events hosted in prestigious venues such as the Capitoline Hill (Campidoglio), the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, and the Chamber of Deputies. Alongside the film competition, the Festival promotes educational initiatives such as Green Flix, a free digital platform for schools that offers audiovisual content accompanied by expert-led discussions (“Green Talk”), aimed at encouraging active citizenship and raising awareness on issues of sustainability, equity, and global responsibility.
